The 2022 Folk Festival is inspired by two major events this summer.

The Queens’ Platinum Jubilee : a celebration of her 70 years on the throne and the first British Monarch to do so.  Our shared dances are chosen because they are folk favourites across the past 70 years( although their origins date back centuries) and a few new dances that  feature in a very famous Ceilidh held annually by the Queen -  The Ghuilles Ball.

The Commonwealth Games will also be hosted in the UK and celebrated at our folk festival as  schools are asked to perform cultural dances from across the commonwealth.
