Dance Festival 2016

WE were very proud of our pupils in Enfield, as again their performances were amazing. The enjoyment and passion each and every student displays in working together to produce some wonderful dances is a joy to behold. Our theme encouraged the schools to look at the countries of the world and reflect how important every culture is, and celebrate their contribution to our world family. From Europe to Australasia, Norway to China, Peru to Kenya  countries from every continent are celebrated through dance-inspired by their traditional stories, music, famous events and dance styles.

Winchmore students took us around the world on Elite Airlines while Kingsmead looked at World Class artists and dedicated their performance to the Ballet Rambert.  We followed the pupils from Walker Primary on an American adventure and Forty Hill Primary who were Hunting in the Cameroon; George Spicer Primary took us back intime to Welsh Mythology, where fairies were perceived as ugly, deceitful creatures. They served the fairy king (Gwyn ap Nudd who was also known as the king of death). Today, however, fairies are seen as beautiful, magical creatures who would do no harm. Hadley Wood Primary treated us to a Chilean inspired dance.Suffolks Primary pupils were inspired by the Jamaican film "Cool Runnings", celebrating the achievement of the bobsled team who made it to the Winter Olympics in 1988”.

With the 2016 Olympics just around the corner excellence will soon be displayed for all to see.  Our dance festival proved that   Enfield children are “World Class” too.

45 primary, 7 secondary and 5 special schools have entered the festival with an amazing total of more than 1400 pupils performing over the week.
